A little bit about VRML and some links to worlds for you to explore.There should soon be some worlds of my own creation for you toexplore.
VRML allows the creation of 3D worlds that can be explored with the aid of a fairly ordinary web browser. What is in a .wrl is only limited by the creator's imagination. You can therefore view these .wrls via the internet and within them you can roam and examine the objects that youfind. There can even be items which if clicked upon will take you to a new VRML .wrl or HTML page in the same way as you click on words in your browser to take you somewhere new.
VRML 2.0 extends the standard, allowing animation to take place within the .wrl.
It is also possible to have multiple users exploring a .wrl. These can all be represented by avatars (not part of the current spec), the representation within the .wrl of each individual. These avatars can all look different and can be capable of expressions or actions. In the case of some, as in those created by Simberon (below), some of these avatars are computer-driven artificially intelligent bots.
To take full advantage of these pages you will need a Java enabled browser and a VRML 2.0 plug-in. Both of these pages will provide you with links to appropriate plug-ins.

You can explore the world with your avatar and meet other peoples avatars. Design your own avatar or use one of the many available. Oh ... and there is now a pool there too! And a fun park you can take a look at my little avatar if you like ... though I have pulled it offline for the moment since I need to remodel it to enable people to smile at it ... it would seem that the origin is in its pelvis! Therefore whenever anyone 'smiles' at it, their head level drops to its crotch level.
